From Denny: President Bush leaves the American economy in such a mess that now the place is falling down around Obama's ears. He doesn't know where to start the clean up, literally. By the way, Mr. President, how about taking the United Arab Emirates up on their offer to send those Super Tankers to the Gulf of Mexico? We could have been cleaning up the oil as it spews out of the ocean floor before it got to the Louisiana coast and marshlands. Once the oil chokes off the oxygen the marsh grasses will die and then the land will sink. When the land sinks then Louisiana is defenseless against the hurricanes and this is going to be a violent hurricane season. At least seven category three or more hurricanes are predicted.
As it is, a relief well will most likely not be ready in August or even September. BP lies about time tables and capability. Relief wells often require ten months to complete. With a violent hurricane season predicted in the Gulf it will hamper the drilling efforts.
Obviously, BP is trying to get you angry enough to sue them so they can stop work and stop payments to the fishermen and fight it out in court for the next ten years. In your place, I would not sue but rather I'd take them off the job and hire Shell Oil to drill those relief wells - or at least oversee the job BP is doing. I'd also get those Super Tankers working ASAP without delay. The fact that the Super Tankers are not out here in the Gulf is outrageous.
The dispersant BP is spraying - with the President's permission - is unacceptable. You are making thousands of Louisiana people and shore clean up crews seriously ill with major respiratory problems. It's already been proven, a weakened solution or not, that this toxic dispersant should be banned. It was banned by the UK ten years ago and yet, with that knowledge, you still allowed it to be used. How dare you risk our health any longer. Cease and desist with the dispersant which is causing more harm than good.
