A Truth Journal: TPP Trade Deal: What Is It With Obamas Shady Controversial Trade Deal That Can Destroy The U. S. Economy?: From Denny:  Well, it's certainly understandable why a lame duck President is so interested in acquiring somewhere to bank his legacy in the history books.  This 12-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal is reported to corral a good 40 percent of the world's trade.  Sounds good, but is it really that good for America?  In most large trade deals it's the American worker that always loses out and it really doesn't do much to move the needle on the U. S. economy.  Most Democrats in Congress don't think so because of all this outrageous secrecy and insufficient worker protections.

President Obama has been far too secretive about this deal.  He has refused for Congress to even read it but demanded they vote upon it quickly.  Obama finally allowed the Senate to read it but did not allow them to publicly discuss it.  Has the House even read it?  Of course, Obama never wanted the press to get a hold of it because we would have torn it to bits, finding every hole in it that exposes the American worker to financial ruin...

Remarks by President Obama, President Park of the Republic of Korea, and Prime Minister Abe of Japan

Remarks by President Obama, President Park of the Republic of Korea, and Prime Minister Abe of Japan

The White House
Office of the Press Secretary

U.S. Ambassador’s Residence
The Hague, The Netherlands
6:38 P.M. CET
March 25, 2014
THE PRESIDENT:  I want to thank President Park and Prime Minister Abe for being here today.  I have worked closely with both the President and the Prime Minister, but this is the first time the three of us have had an opportunity to meet together and discuss some of the serious challenges that we all face.
Obviously Japan and the Republic of Korea are two of our closest allies in the world and our two most significant and powerful allies in the Asia Pacific region.  The ties between our peoples run deep.  We do an extraordinary amount of trade together.  Our alliances with South Korea and Japan uphold regional peace and security.  So our meeting today is a reflection of the United States’ critical role in the Asia Pacific region, but that role depends on the strength of our alliances.
One of the things that brings us together today is our shared concern about North Korea and its nuclear weapons program. Over the last five years, close coordination between our three countries has succeeded in changing the game with North Korea, and our trilateral cooperation has sent a strong signal to Pyongyang that its provocations and threats will be met with a unified response and that the U.S. commitment to the security of both Japan and the Republic of Korea is unwavering, and that a nuclear North Korea is unacceptable.
So I very much look forward to discussing some of the specific steps that we can take to deepen that coordination in terms of both diplomacy and military cooperation.  And that includes joint exercises and on missile defense.
So, again, I want to thank President Park and Prime Minister Abe for being here after a long summit.  I appreciate their delegations being here as well.  I think it's very important for our three nations to display this kind of unity and shared determination.  It's an important message to our citizens; it's an important message to the Asia Pacific region.  And this also gives me an opportunity to lay the groundwork for even more productive meetings when I visit both the Republic of Korea and Japan in April.
So, thank you again, Madam Prime Minister -- Madam President and Mr. Prime Minister.  Thank you very much.
PRESIDENT PARK:  (As interpreted.)  Given the increasingly uncertain developments in North Korea, the critical need for closer coordination among the three countries with regard to North Korea, the North Korean nuclear issue, the chance to engage in an exchange of views with President Obama and Prime Minister Abe is very significant.  The North Korean nuclear issue poses a major threat to peace and stability in the region, and it is vital that the international community, including Korea, the U.S. and Japan, fashion a united response.
The fact that the leaders of the three countries have gathered together and they’re discussing the issue of the North Korean nuclear weapons issue is in and of itself very significant.  Should North Korea embark on the path to denuclearization on the basis of sincerity, then there will be a way forward to address the difficulties confronting the North Korean people.
The United States has worked very hard to make today’s meeting happen.  I sincerely hope that this meeting will offer a chance for us to reaffirm our trilateral coordination and strengthen cooperation on the nuclear front.

PRIME MINISTER ABE:  (As interpreted.)  I am so delighted that we are able to hold the Japan-U.S.-Republic of Korea trilateral summit today.  I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to President Obama for hosting this summit.  And I am so very happy to be able to see President Park Geun-Hye.
It is highly meaningful and also timely that the leaders of the three countries sharing basic values and strategic interests are gathering together to have extensive discussions of security.  Particularly, it is extremely important to be able to confirm close cooperation amongst Japan, the United States and the Republic of Korea on the issue of North Korea.  And the three countries would like to cooperate so that North Korea will be able to take a positive stance with regard to nuclear and missile issues and also humanitarian issues, such as the separated families of the Republic of Korea.
PRESIDENT OBAMA:  Thank you very much, everybody.
END

3 Videos: Violent Typhoons Affect 9 Million People in Asia

From Denny: These typhoon stories in Asia began on August 9th and the ramifications are still playing out. Over 1 million people in China had to flee the first day. Hundreds are dead from China, Taiwan, Japan to the Philippines from these two violent typhoons. Over 9 million people have been displaced or affected by these violent storms to date.

As an American teenager living in Taiwan many years ago, I went to an American school on the island. I spent two summers on the southern part of the island country helping medical missionaries for free as my boarding school roommate was the child of medical missionaries.

The second summer was cut short as a typhoon was coming your way off the water and it sure was scary. If you have never seen a typhoon coming at you, well, hurricanes are tame. It looks just like a funnel tornado only it's still connected to the sky and the water, builds up tremendous speed and starts rushing toward the shore: you! It hits with the tremendous force of both wind and water, a double whammy. No wonder you see huge homes on concrete foundations just drop off into the water and sail away in this news footage.

Video: Bill Clinton Retrieves 2 Jailed U.S. Journalists From North Korea

From Denny: For weeks now the State Department has been acting like a real State Department and been quietly negotiating for the release of the U.S. journalists North Korea sentenced to prison for years of hard labor because they were caught sneaking into the country to do a story. Anyone with a brain would know better than to try and deceive a paranoid deceptive government and they paid a high price for their gamble.

Former President Bill Clinton was sent to retrieve the women. All Clinton had to do was publicly reap the fruits of the many background diplomats who did the heavy lifting to achieve this political coup. The former President is the high level status of attention and interaction the North Koreans were seeking. Clinton is known for both his charm and his knowledge of how best to handle difficult situations.

These journalists should count themselves extremely lucky that President Obama was willing to seek their freedom. Under a Republican administration they would have been considered expendable and left to rot in prison for their full terms.

Moral of the story? As an American don't get jailed in a foreign country unless you have lots of friends in high places to pay for your release or there is a Democrat in the White House.

Now the real questions remain: What did Clinton privately promise North Korea? Was it enough to extract a public apology from a heavy weight powerful country? Will North Korea power down on their nuclear ambitions?

For now, North Korea threw a temper tantrum and got the international attention it was seeking by stepping on the faces of two women. Fortunately, Clinton and Obama are class acts and retrieved them.

This video is from early this morning before Clinton's plane had taken off and was in the air. Smart move from the White House not to crow about it until they knew all parties were out of North Korean air space.

This is the video hours later after confirmation from the White House the jailed reporters and Clinton were on their way home to America.
